Chapter Twenty

During their cake break, Harper checked her e-mail. As promised. Darlene had sent over a handful of lightly edited photos, CC’d to Felicity as well.

“Darlene sent the pics over,” Harper announced. Pietr came behind her, peeking over her shoulder at the selection.

“Which one do you want to post?” He asked. He had to pick his fingers over her damp hair to find a spot where he could dig them in. He finally did and used the leverage to tilt her head to the side, kissing her neck.”

“Maybe this one?” She paused on the one taken during Pietr’s vows. “Or, this one?” She scrolled down slightly to one from the kiss. Her lips tingled remembering it. Pietr kissed her often, of course, but that one would always be memorable.

“I like that one.” Pietr’s turned into a rumble. “It was a good kiss.” He tipped her head back, giving her another one. This one even drew out a little moan. He laughed, finally releasing her. He went to the fridge to pull out the small cake that Harper had ordered while doing the preparations. She had gone out to pick it up that morning, along with the brioche they’d used for breakfast. “Does it matter to you which of us cuts this?” He asked.

“No,” she shook her head, “it’s just a cake.” She continued working at her computer, beginning to schedule the posts to their social media accounts for 8 AM the next morning.

“Are we going to do that thing where people save a slice to eat on their first anniversary?”

“That is disgusting,” Harper replied. “No. We can just order another cake from the same bakery if you want. They’ve been around for fifty years. I’m sure they’ll be here at least one more.”

“It’s not a Russian tradition,” he assured her. “I’m more than happy to just eat the whole cake now...” He demonstrated this by just sticking his fork into it.

“Pietr! There are four of us in this apartment right now,” she chided.

“Da, and where are they? Hopefully not getting into any trouble. I didn’t hear anything from the bedroom, and it’s too early for Isaac to go to bed. They weren’t on the sofa...”

Harper frowned. She felt bad that she hadn’t noticed the absence. She was used to the apartment being on the quiet side. She jumped as Misha’s hands were placed on her shoulders.

“Don’t fret,” he spoke up. “Isaac is in the hall, talking to Ciklovich.”

“Gregor?” Harper raised an eyebrow.

“He called about twenty minutes ago. I don’t really know what it’s about. I don’t really care.” Misha said smoothly. He leaned in, pressing a kiss just in front of Harper’s ear. “Did you two have your fun already?”

“Refueling before part two.” Pietr slid two plates of cake across the kitchen island. “Why are they in the hall?”

“I don’t know, comrade,” Misha retorted. “I didn’t know that they were even friends.”

“That’s the thing, Misha,” Harper said. “They aren’t. Gregor wants to be. Gregor wants to fuck Isaac’s brains out...but Isaac thinks he’s too young.
